Fraunhofer Gesellschaft zur Förderung der angewandten Forschung e.V. (Fraunhofer)

The Fraunhofer Society (FhG) is a recognized non-profit research organization, which takes its name from the researcher, inventor and entrepreneur Joseph von Fraunhofer (1787-1826). Founded in 1949, the FhG currently comprises 74 Fraunhofer-Institutes with nearly 28000 employees at 40 different locations in Germany as well as research centers and representative offices in Europe, USA and Asia. The FhG undertakes applied research in future-oriented projects with the aim of finding innovative solutions to issues concerning the industrial economy and society in general.

 Fraunhofer will lead the activities related to the architecture, operability and user interface for the DOME 4.0 platform and will take care of the design, set-up and implementation of the data exchange platform for the project. Fraunhofer will be involved in the showcases, considering the creep response of discontinuously fibre reinforced plastics, polymeric additives for corrosion protection as well as fatigue of structural adhesives.

Università di Bologna (UNIBO)

Almost 1000 years old, the University of Bologna (UNIBO) is known as the oldest University of the western world. Nowadays, UNIBO still remains one of the most important institutions of higher education across Europe and the second largest university in Italy. With 11 Schools, 32 Departments and about 87.000 students; UNIBO is organized in a multi-campus structure with 5 operating sites (Bologna, Cesena, Forlì, Ravenna and Rimini), and, since 1998, also a permanent headquarters in Buenos Aires. Thanks to its scientific excellence and a central research development and project management support, UNIBO has gained a considerable experience in International and European research projects.

 UNIBO will contribute to the project, focusing on the ecosystem platform user requirements (defining epics and persona), development of extensible, lightweight data structure ontology supporting the exchange of data, development of information model for collaborative distributive brokering, identity, data provenance and sovereignty.

 

Ecole polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL)

The École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) is a research institute and university in Lausanne, Switzerland, that specializes in natural sciences and engineering. It is one of the two Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology, and it has three main missions: education, research and technology transfer. The QS World University Rankings ranks EPFL 14th in the world across all fields in their 2020/2021 ranking, and the subject rankings of the QS World Universities ranks the Institute of Materials 7th worldwide, and the top ranked Department at EPFL.

 EPFL is involved in DOME 4.0 through MARVEL, the Swiss National Center for Computational Design and Discovery of Novel Materials. One of its long-term infrastructural goals is to develop the open-science platform for simulation services, tools, and curated and raw data through AiiDA and the Materials Cloud - so there is an ideal partnership in place with DOME 4.0!

 

UK Research and Innovation (UKRI)

The Science and Technology Facilities Council is a multi-disciplinary science institution, part of the UK Research and Innovation agency, that carries out research in science and engineering, and funds UK research in areas including particle physics, nuclear physics, space science and astronomy.”

 UKRI will expand the know-how about the organisation and orchestration of collaborative marketplaces by contributing effort to the ecosystem components and their semantic interoperability.

 

Siemens Industry Software NV (SISW)

Siemens Industry Software NV (SISW) is a Belgian company, and it is a core part of the Simulation and Test Solutions segment of Siemens Digital Industries Software. It helps manufacturers create and maintain a Digital Twin of their products, which mirrors the behavior of the product in its actual state throughout the various phases of its lifecycle, from ideation to realization and utilization. SISW is active in functional performance engineering of mechanical structures (vehicles, aircraft, machinery, wind turbines) and has an extensive methodology and toolset development track record in a wide range of relevant mechanical attributes, with, amongst others, over 20 years in durability/fatigue methods development and 10 years in multi-attribute structural analysis process solutions in industry. SISW continuously innovates its solutions through substantial investments in R&D, in close collaboration with both end users and leading universities and research centers.

 Thanks to our participation in DOME 4.0, Siemens will be able to explore the benefits and potential business opportunities of linking workflows and software tools to this rich ecosystem of material marketplaces, services and data.

 

ROBERT BOSCH GMBH (BOSCH)

Since its start in 1994, Uniresearch has become a successful and independent grants & innovation consultancy firm specialised in national and European grants in the field of innovation, research and technological development. With a diverse portfolio of clients across Europe we advise on grant opportunities, prepare and submit grant applications and take care of the administrative process. Our services range from grant consultancy, grant coordination to project management and dissemination activities.

 In the DOME 4.0 project, Uniresearch will contribute with its detailed and skilled project management knowledge. Together with an online reporting function, up-to-date performance and progress overviews (both technical and financial) and a shared webserver that enables the uploading/sorting of project files by all partners, we are looking forward to support the DOME 4.0 partners on the project management side.

 

SINTEF AS. (SINTEF)

SINTEF is one of Europe's largest independent research organisations. Every year we carry out several thousand projects for customers large and small. We deliver innovation by developing knowledge and technologies that are brought into practical use. SINTEF is a broad, multidisciplinary research organisation with international top-level expertise in the fields of technology, the natural sciences, medicine and the social sciences. We conduct contract R&D as a partner for the private and public sectors, and we are one of the largest contract research institutions in Europe. Our vision is Technology for a better society

 DOME 4.0 will help SINTEF share and re-use data among customers and partners for cross-domain collaboration, research and development.

 

Cambridge Nanomaterials Technology Ltd. (CNT)

Cambridge Nanomaterials Technology Ltd (CNT) is an innovation management and nanotechnology consulting company based in Cambridge, UK. The CNT Ltd helps companies, academic and government institutions to develop world-class innovative solutions for nanomaterials related R&D and IPR strategy, partnership, products, technologies, funding and markets. CNT Ltd is specialised in carbon nanomaterials R&D consulting and collaborative R&D project management, including exploitation and dissemination management, consortium and supply chain building. CNT has done a number of patent landscaping and market research analysis studies regarding production and use of various nanomaterials helping to link inventors and technology developers with end-users and investors.

 CNT will be responsible for running the two Industry Open Days along with the project partners.

UCL was identified by the UK Research Excellence Framework as the top university in the UK for research strength and UCL is consistently placed in the global top 20 across a wide range of university rankings (currently joint 7th in the QS World University Rankings).

 UCL include will lead the platform design and implementation and will develop the code applications as well as support partners in the showcases.
