DOME 4.0 Final Review Meeting: Reflecting on Four Years of Innovation and Achievements

Between 22 and 23 January 2025, the highly anticipated final review meeting for the DOME 4.0 project took place at the premises of our esteemed partner, Fraunhofer. This two-day event marked a significant milestone in the project’s journey and provided an excellent opportunity for the consortium to showcase the progress and accomplishments achieved to date.

A Warm Welcome and Project Overview

The meeting opened with a warm welcome from the project coordinator, setting a positive and collaborative tone for the event. The introductory session provided a comprehensive overview of the DOME project, highlighting its objectives, evolution, and impact. This recap served as a reminder of the project’s ambitious vision and the collective efforts invested by all partners over the years.

Deep Dive into Project Management and Financial Performance

Following the general overview, the meeting transitioned into a detailed presentation of the work performed since the project's inception. Key areas of focus included:

• Project Management: An in-depth look at the strategies and processes implemented to steer the project effectively. This segment covered the overall project timeline, the integration of various work packages, and the coordination efforts that ensured seamless collaboration among partners.

• Risk Management: The consortium presented its proactive approach to identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks. This discussion underscored the importance of being prepared for unexpected challenges and highlighted the successful strategies that kept potential issues at bay.

• Reflection on the P2 Report: Critical insights were shared regarding the progress made up to the P2 milestone. The discussion provided a transparent review of the project’s evolution, addressing both achievements and areas that required additional focus.

• Financial Overview: A comprehensive analysis of the project finances was presented, detailing budget management, resource allocation, and the fiscal discipline maintained throughout the project. This segment reassured all stakeholders of the project’s financial health and its alignment with the planned milestones.

Celebrating Achievements and Learning from the Journey

The next part of the meeting was dedicated to showcasing the human side of the project. Each partner took the stage to share:

• "What Made Us Proud": A series of presentations that highlighted significant accomplishments and proud moments from the project journey. These narratives celebrated the innovation, teamwork, and breakthrough moments that defined the project.

• Deviations and Lessons Learned: The consortium provided an honest review of deviations encountered—both positive and negative. This reflective session emphasized the lessons learned, offering valuable recommendations for future projects and continuous improvement.

• Work Package Highlights: Detailed accounts of what worked well in each work package from the project's start until M48 were shared, illustrating the collaborative successes and technical advancements that drove the project forward.

Technical Progress and Constructive Dialogue

The meeting also featured pointed questions from the project officer and reviewer, focusing on key technical areas such as the platform, databases, and the Showcase. The consortium, well-prepared with comprehensive data and evidence of progress, confidently addressed these questions. Their detailed responses underscored the robust technical foundation of the project and left the technical reviewers satisfied with the overall progress.

Engaging with EU

A highlight of the event was the engaging discussion with EU representatives Hedi Karray and Dimitrios Liparas. This session not only provided valuable external insights but also fostered a deeper connection between the project consortium and the broader European research and innovation community.
